Despite the severe weather, members from all over Eryri flocked to the Sarn and District ploughing match at Cwrt, to compete in the fencing competition.
Eryri YFC were part of the ploughing match again this year, with members doing well in competitions other than fencing.
Although the dry-stone walling and ploughing were not official YFC competitions, members from Llangybi and Y Rhiw came up trumps in both events.
The big guns were out for the fencing as Caernarfon were defending their title for the fourth year, and under the watchful eye of judges Huw and Dylan Roberts, Rhiw for the first time won the Harper, Ty Newydd Cup for the best fence.
“The standard this year was very high,” said Huw Thomas, one of the committee officials.
“The judge had a hard time deciding on the winner and had to split feathers to do so!”
Miriam Williams, Eryri YFC chairman, added: “We are very grateful to Ras Aredig Sarn a’r Cylch for the warm welcome each year, and we were proud to be represented in many competitions on the day.”
Caernarfon came second to Rhiw, with Ysbyty Ifan 1 in third. Harri Gwyn, from the Llangybi club, won the ploughing trophy.
