A FRUGAL family is set to star in a new, primetime S4C TV show exploring money management.

Six families, including the Williams family from Llanfrothren, will enter the Y Ty Arian (Money House) in the hope of learning more about their spending habits.

The aim is to save money for something specific, such as a dream holiday or car.

As part of a revealing and light-hearted social experiment over 48 hours, viewers watch as each family receives expert guidance to identify areas where they overspend and where they can save money.

The cameras will return later to find out what they’ve learned from their experience in Y Ty Arian.

Vicky Williams is the mother of the first family to enter Y Ty Arian.

She and her husband Aled have five children, three of whom appear on screen.

With such busy lives, will they find the best food options to feed the family at the lowest cost?

Ahead of the first episode, she said: “It’s brought us closer as a family. We’re a close family anyway but I think by withdrawing from all the stuff we have at home such as technology, it’s taught us we can have a laugh without having to use these things.”

Keeping a watchful eye on the families during their time in the house will be popular presenters Dot Davies and Leah Hughes as we follow the cameras into Y Ty Arian.

The Williams family will star in Y Ty Arian on 19 April at 8pm on S4C.
