EXPECTATIONS are flying high at an osprey centre near Porthmadog.
The Glaslyn centre reopened on Monday, 27 March, with one of the feathered regulars already back in place.
Gruff Owen, the project manager said there were exciting times ahead at the centre.
Female adult osprey, Mrs G, is currently back at the centre after becoming one of a nesting pair that started nesting in the area in 2004.
Gruff said: “She was here in 2004 and we have probably the longest standing nest in Wales. It’s nice to have her back.
“It’s in their nature to return to the same area and the chicks will usually come back to the same area as well.
“When our project was set up it was to protect the only nesting pair in Wales and if it hadn’t succeeded it’s very likely that there wouldn’t be ospreys in Wales for a period.
“Now we’re seeing a lot more ospreys coming through the area and even nesting here."
