Eryri YFC’s AGM was held at Caernarfon Golf Club, when Beca Glyn from Ysbyty Ifan was elected as chairman and Ann Williams, Bryn Meirion, Llithfaen, was elected president.
Members from all 11 clubs in Eryri gathered to close one competing year and to open the forthcoming one at the AGM. All the officers reported on the passing year and all the clubs gave a short account of their activities during that time. Awards were also presented to the clubs in different sections, from stock judging, public speaking, increase in membership and points accumulated.
With more than 50 members, officers and friends of the organisation present, Myfanwy Harper, of Ty Newydd, Llandegai and Nesta Griffiths, of Henblas, Llanwnda, were elected as life members for being so supportive of the YFC, not only at county level but at club level as well.
“It was a very successful evening to end the activities of the past year,” said Allen Wynne Owen, retiring president.
“Many clubs went home with trophies for their efforts during the past year, and it was a pleasure to see Myfanwy and Nesta being elected as life members,” he added.
“It’s been a different year,” said Miriam Williams, retiring chairman.
“We have survived a year without a Gwynedd Council grant and we seem to be going from strength to strength. Hopefully this will be the case for years to come. I wish all the new officers well for the next year.”
Trophies went to all parts of the county, with Ifan Prys, Dyffryn Nantlle collecting the cup for junior stockman and Mari Roberts, Ysbyty Ifan taking the senior stockman.
Y Rhiw took the Hafod y Llan trophy for the biggest increase in members and Ysbyty Ifan took the Catherine Rhian trophy for most points awarded in competitions from September 2018 to August 2019, with Caernarfon taking home the Henblas trophy for most points awarded to the smallest clubs.
