A brave Llanrhystud lad is to have his head shaved this afternoon to raise money for brave frontline NHS staff.

Six-year-old Emlyn Evans is braving the shave to raise money for Hywel Dda staff.

After hearing from his mum Louisa about how hard NHS staff in Hywel Dda’s hospitals were working, looking after patients during the pandemic, he wanted to help.

He will be having his head shaved this afternoon and has set up a fundraising page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Louisa-Evans1

The money raised will go towards the Apêl Hywel Dda NHS Covid-19 Appeal launched by Hywel Dda Health Charities to say thank you to our NHS heroes caring for Covid-19 patients.

Emlyn’s shave will be carried out by Louisa, 38, with support from dad Deiniol, 36, and Emlyn’s four-year-old sister Lois.

The family run a sheep and beef farm near Llanrhystud and they are very proud of Emlyn and his actions.

Louisa, a part-time Meithrin worker, said: “Although only six, Emlyn really wanted to raise money for NHS staff when he realised how much they were doing looking after people with coronavirus.

“Just before his fourth birthday, Emlyn was very ill and was in Bronglais for nearly a week. He had chicken pox and this progressed to Grade A Strep.

“So this is also a chance for us to thank the staff at Bronglais for what they did for Emlyn two years ago.

“Any donations to Emlyn’s page will be gratefully received. Let’s say thank you to the NHS for the wonderful work they are doing.”
