ELFED ‘Gyrn Goch’ Williams has challenged himself to walk up Snowdon 52 times in 12 months to raise money for the Welsh Air Ambulance.
Elfed decided to raise money for the cause after his son Tomos Huw suffered a horrific injury. If it was not for the Wales Air Ambulance, he would not have survived.
Tomos was flown from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, and then to the University Hospital in Stoke.
“In rural areas, as in parts of Wales, it is essential for the service of the air ambulance so they can get the patient to treatment within the golden hour,” said Elfed.
“Therefore, I have set myself this challenge this year to walk up Snowdon 52 times to raise money for this worthy cause.”
Elfed has already walked up Snowdon 30 times this year, making the climb in sun, fog, snow and rain, and has so far raised £2,785.93 for Wales Air Ambulance.
