WORK has started on Bala’s £10million new ‘super school’.
There are also plans to install a state-of-the-art 3G sports pitch at the new learning facility, a commodity with far reaching benefits for the whole community.
Pupils from schools in Bala joined Gwynedd Council representatives and building contractors Wynne Construction last Friday, 8 July to attend a turf cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of construction work on the new Learning Campus that will open its doors in September 2018.
The intention is to establish a brand new Learning Campus for pupils aged 3-19 on the current site of Ysgol y Berwyn, Bala whilst shutting down the three schools in the area.
The joint investment of £10million, by Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Government, as part of the 21st Century Schools and Education Programme, will ensure that the area’s children are taught on a site that provides a modern suitable learning environment for the 21st century as well as protecting the long-term future of post-16 education and the rural schools within the catchment-area.
