An Aberystwyth primary school has received the thumbs up from inspectors who found it to be a ‘safe, exceptionally caring and highly inclusive environment for all pupils.’
An Estyn report released last week rated Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos, Penparcau ‘excellent’ in two of five criteria – the highest ranking – and ‘good’ in the other three.
The school was found to be ‘excellent’ for ‘wellbeing and attitudes to learning’ and ‘care, support and guidance’ while ‘standards’, ‘teaching and learning experiences’ and ‘leadership and management’ were all rated ‘good.’
The school has been invited by Estyn to prepare a case study “on its work in relation to the highly effective use of assessment information in identifying the next step in a child’s learning” which will be shared with other schools in Wales.
Headteacher Brian Evans praised the pupils, staff, parents and guardians at the school, who were all “delighted” with the report.
“This inspection is a confirmation of the excellent work that takes place at Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos on a daily basis,” he said.
“It confirms the ongoing commitment and dedication shown by all members of our school community.
“We are all very proud of this report.”
The report found that “most pupils including those with additional learning needs make good, and often very good progress from their differing starting points as they move through the school.”
