A pre-application consultation is set to take place in Machynlleth over the next few weeks as part of the development of a new all-through school.
The £23m Ysgol Bro Hyddgen development, to be built by construction firm Dawnus, proposes to demolish the existing secondary school building and redevelop the site to provide a new 620-pupil all-through school.
This means that education will be provided at one site in the town from the age of four up to 18.
All the plans and documents will be available for inspection and review online and at Machynlleth Library, as well as in Y Plas.
Machynlleth county councillor Michael Williams said: “I encourage as many people as possible to respond and take part in the consultation.
“This is vitally important to Machynlleth and the wider Dyfi Valley.”
The new building should be open by September 2020, bringing the primary school and secondary school pupils together under one roof.
Due to be finished by September 2020, the new 6,500m² school will be built on Ysgol Bro Hyddgen’s current playing fields, with the old school being demolished to make space for car parking and sporting facilities.
This includes a 3G pitch to provide pupils and the community an accessible ground for team fitness during the wet winter months.
Parents and members of the community are being given the chance to see designs and meet project staff from Powys council, Heart of Wales Property Services, contractors Dawnus and architects Archiytype at the school on 15 November from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
The closing date for comments, via email to [email protected], is 19 November.
