AFTER 60 weeks of hard work, new school Carreg Hirfaen will officially open its doors this July.
Construction company Andrew Scott Ltd took on the £4.7m contract to construct a brand new education facility on the land opposite the existing school site in Lampeter.
The project was completed on 19 February and opened to pupils three days later.
The new school incorporates a number of important design features, and has been developed to accommodate 150 pupils in its core facility, providing provisions for 210 students and a further 30 nursery pupils in total thanks to associated external works.
“We are proud to have been the main contractor on such a prestigious project. The new facility has been completed to the highest standards expected and will provide a first class teaching environment for the local community,” said Steve Rees, contracts manager at Andrew Scott Ltd.
News of this project success story comes just weeks after the Port Talbot-based firm won three accolades at the RICS Wales Awards 2016, including the coveted title of ‘Project of the Year’.
