PUPILS and staff in Machynlleth are celebrating an overall 100 per cent pass rate at A*-E after A-level results came through on Thursday.

At Ysgol Bro Hyddgen, 75.7 per cent of the awarded grades were in the A*-C range at A-levels, with a 100 per cent pass rate of A*-E at both A-level and in vocational qualifications.

Overall, 100 per cent of Year 13 students achieved 2 A*-E grades or equivalent.

Among the highest performers at A-level at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen were: Ella White, A*AA; Meinir Jones, AABC; Steffan Williams, ABBC; Emma Ames, Distinction*/A* BD; Natalie Watson, ABBB; Mali Tomos, ABBC; Lliwedd Jones, ABB; Mared Ingram, ABCC; and Alfie Horton, ABC.

Subjects achieving 100 per cent A*-C at A levels at the school include English, mathematics, religious education, electronics, French and history.

All entries in vocational courses achieved a Merit or better, with 81.3 per cent being at Distinction* or Distinction level.

A delighted headteacher, Dafydd Jones said that he was “keen to acknowledge that each student’s success has been brought about not just by their own hard work but also the commitment, support and high quality teaching of staff at the school".

“These are excellent results and reflect the hard work and commitment of the students, parents and Ysgol Bro Hyddgen’s staff to ensure the young people within our community have the best possible life chances whilst aiming for their chosen career paths,” he said.
