TYWYN was awash with glitz and glamour as the town’s comprehensive school held its annual leavers prom.

On Thursday 23 June, Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn’s final year group attended a swanky do in the Woodlands, Bryncrug.

The prom also coincided with Mrs Diamond, the school’s Food Technology teacher, last prom as she is retiring after 35 years with Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn.

Speaking to the Cambrian News, the food technology teacher explained: “All the students - the girls all demure in their prom dresses and the young men in their smart suits - were a real credit to their parents and the school.

“After a lovely buffet, a series of awards were presented by Mrs Helen Lewis, headteacher.

“The students’ winner of the Prom King and Queen were Tom Curtis and Alice Bennett, whilst the teachers’ winners were Lonnie Chesworth and Leona Maglonzo.

“Mr James Carver, our science teacher, added to the evening’s entertainment by performing three of his songs on stage before everyone danced the evening away to Jonathan Kendall’s Dance Mania Disco.

“The students and staff also had a fabulous time dressing up and having their photos taken in Wilde Photography’s ‘photo booth’, creating wonderful permanent memories of their evening”.
