PREFERRED plans for the new Dyfi Bridge will be revealed today, Wednesday, as part of a pre-planning application consultation.

The opening of the six-week consultation period comes just days after Machynlleth councillor Michael Williams told the Cambrian News that there was growing concern that the plans for the new bridge had stalled, but it has now been confirmed that a new consultation has been launched.

That will see preferred plans displayed at Y Plas in Machynlleth to give residents the chance to see what the latest plan is following the release of proposals in 2015 for a new bridge further up-stream than the current bridge.

Consultants Alan Griffiths Engineering have drawn up the plans and the consultation will now run for six weeks before a decision is taken on whether to proceed with the preferred option and lodge a planning application.

When the plans were first revealed concerns were raised over safety at a proposed junction on the A487 for traffic coming from and going to Aberdyfi and Tywyn and questions raised over flooding at the railway bridge in Machynlleth.
