AN ABERYSTWYTH software company has this week launched its remake of a ‘90s cult classic video game on the Sony Playstation 4 console.

West Coast Software has already launched D/Generation HD on Microsoft’s Xbox One console, and on Steam, the online game marketplace for the PC, in the USA and UK, and is now looking forward to launching on the PS4 on 15 March in the USA.

D/Generation HD is the remake of an isometric puzzle game, written in 1991 by Robert Cook for PC/DOS and ported by John Jones-Steele to Windows and Amiga/CD32, which was in the top 40 for five years.

The game has been recreated from the original source code and contains all the original features and puzzles, but in HD graphics.

The game is set in 2021 and is centred around Genoq, a company which has developed a range of bio-weapons that have escaped into the company’s headquarters.

D/Generation HD has so far received some very positive reviews from gamers on Steam.

One reviewer said: “Absolutely gorgeous colourful graphics, an amazing soundtrack and the same smart gameplay as the original”.

Another gamer said: “This is a thinking man’s game”.

D/Generation HD is now available on Xbox by searching for D/Generation HD at https://store.xbox.com. It is also available for the PC by visiting Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/389740.
