A former headteacher of Llandysul Primary School appeared in court last week on charges of child grooming.
David Watkin Bundock, 74, who in 2004 received an MBE for services to education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, appeared at Llanelli Law Courts on Thursday.
He was accused of attempting to meet a boy under the age of 16 years following grooming in Carmarthenshire, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a male child under the age of 16 years in Cardiff and two further counts of possessing indecent photographs or images of a child on an electronic device in Cardiff.
The alleged offences were said to have taken place between October 2017 and January 2019, the court was told.
The defendant, whose address was given as Valetta House in Cardiff, entered no plea to all charges put before him when he appeared before the court.
District Judge Christopher James deemed the charges so serious that he remanded Bundock in custody until a trial at Swansea Crown Court, which is scheduled to be held on Monday, 11 March.
A former head of Llandysul and Capel Dewi primary schools, Bundock served as a headteacher for 35 years.
He then became a senior adviser with Ceredigion’s County Council’s education department.
