A man accused of starting the blaze that devastated an Aberystwyth hotel and led to the death of a guest will appear in Swansea Crown Court tomorrow after being charged with murder.
Damion Harris, 31, of Llwyn On, Pwllhobi, Llanbadarn Fawr, had already been remanded in custody after being charged with arson with intent to endanger life after the blaze at the Ty Belgrave hotel in July.
Aberystwyth magistrates heard today that Harris, who appeared by video link, has now also been charged with the murder of Lithuanian national Juozas Tunaitis, who was working as a contractor at Aberystwyth University as a fire safety officer.
A charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent on hotel guest Richard Simnett, who suffered serious injuries, including a broken back, after falling from the roof of the hotel, was also laid.
Harris was remanded in custody until the crown court hearing.
