IN the absence of president Elinor Rhys Williams due to an injury sustained in an accidental fall, the meeting on Tuesday, 4 July, was chaired by vice-president Daphne Jones.

After welcoming everyone, Mrs Jones introduced the guest speaker, Eryl Williams, who gave a very interesting and informative talk about the Polish Care Home at Penrhos.

Mrs Williams illustrated her talk with numerous photographs and memorabilia she had amassed over the years. She was thanked by Eryl Hobley.

The tea hostesses were Eirwen Griffith and Sian Evans, and the raffle prize, given by Betty Coles, was won by Winnie Jones. A second raffle prize given by the guest speaker was won by Sian Goodman Jones. The business part of the meeting followed with matters arising discussed.

There will be no meeting in August. The new season starts on Tuesday, 5 September, in the Ala Road chapel vestry at 7pm when Tammy Barma Pritchard will give a talk about her career in dancing. New members are always welcome.
