MACHYNLLETH, following a run of disappointing results which saw their county champions’ crown disappear, signed off their season in division one of the Montgomeryshire County League with a 22-shot home success over Carno.
Machynlleth won on three of the four rinks to gather six points to Carno’s one.
In division two, Maglona sealed their fourth win of the season by 11 shots at Gwynedd rivals Aberdyfi and collected five points to the seasiders’ two.
Attracting a number of new bowlers, Maglona can be well pleased with this season’s much improved form over recent years.
The town’s county mixed league team also tasted success with a home victory over Carno and pocketed five points to the visitors two. They stood in second spot behind leaders Berriew after this 14 August fixture.

ON Thursday, 16 August, Ann Owen of Einion’s Gardens, Furnace, led a workshop on the theme of permaculture.
Attendees were shown how we try to mimic nature to help fruit and vegetables grow well.
Apart from companion planting and mulching, Ann evidenced more about techniques and ways to use nature’s resilience and abundance to help with gardening. She also revisited homemade potions and fertilisers for plant health.
Then, on the following day at the local bowling club, budding cooks learnt how to make and adapt Fattoush Middle Eastern salad, using seasonal vegetables, pitta bread and fresh herbs.
Jeanette Grey led this session of the popular and free Clwb Coginio, gaining appreciation from all present.
