St Padarn’s bell ringers
WEDNESDAY evening practices and Sunday morning service ringing have been continuing throughout the summer months; although there have had to be some last minute cancellations due to low availability of ringers.
As is often the case a number of ringers from further afield have visited the tower; a ring of 10 bells is always a great attraction.
The Martley Guild of Bell Ringers from the Diocese of Hereford and Worcester recently rang the bells as part of their 2019 Guild Outing.
In the past few weeks the tower has warmly welcomed visiting ringers from Abingdon in Berkshire, Olympia in the USA, Usk, Oxford, Stoke Bishop (Bristol), Cambridge and Lichfield.
Amongst these it has been particularly good to welcome back two former student ringers, a lady who graduated in 1999 now ringing in Cambridge, and a more recent graduate, a gentleman who is now living and working in Lichfield who is a regular ringer at St Chad’s Cathedral.
Practice nights are Wednesdays from 7.30pm until 9pm and Sunday service ringing is from 9.15am until 10am.
People interested in visiting should contact John Wildig on 01970 623713, beforehand to check that ringing is on.
