St Mary’s Women’s Fellowship
ON 2 September, the first meeting of the new term, 13 members attended and Jessie opened with the Lord’s Prayer.
A social evening, Sheila collected membership fees, and Marian and Iola brought examples of knitting projects they undertake to donate to refugees.
Some members will be joining them in this project after the coffee morning and craft fair on 8 November.
Jessie brought them up to date with any other business. Lillian won the raffle.
At the last AGM it was decided that they would finish each meeting with the Peace Prayer.
On 16 September, 10 member attended plus a visitor, Karen, who they met outside the church.
On chatting to her, she was interested in the subject of the speaker, so they invited her to join. Afterwards she thanked them for our hospitality and said she had thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
The speaker was Ross Grant from Compassion Direct UK (Ross is also one of their members).
This charity is the brainchild of Ross.
The charity grew from small beginnings in Argentina’s shanty towns, to encompass Syria and Ghana, and they are now looking at projects in Rwanda and Columbia.
The charity is committed to the ecological needs of our world and the practical needs of the most poor and vulnerable. It provides aid and support for education.

On 30 September, 13 members attended.
The speaker was Becci Phasey from Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife-Ospreys.
Becci went on to discuss all the excellent work undertaken at the centre, which has led to an impressive breeding programme for the ospreys.
These magnificent birds were on the verge of extinction in the British Isles, mainly due to human activities. Becci discussed a long standing breeding pair Mr and Mrs G.
Sadly Mr G failed to return after 10 seasons, but Mrs G did find a new partner, Arran, and they have continued to breed to date.
As all chicks are tagged, they are able to track Mrs G’s offspring.
Up to now 50 eggs have been laid, leading to 38 chick survival, and 85 grand chicks!.
