Red Nose Day

A TOTAL of £238 was raised by Ysgol y Traeth for Red Nose Day this year. Everyone had the opportunity to wear red and three boxes of red noses were sold.

DURING the first week in March the whole school celebrated Cool Wales. Pupils were given an opportunity to study Welsh artists and the local author Bethan Gwanas came to work with Year 6 and read a story to Year 2. Bodlyn class prepared an assembly on St David’s Day and the whole school enjoyed a special lunch before taking part in a parade. Pupils’ posters celebrating St David’s Day were displayed in the Co-op once again this year and in return they were each given a special St David’s Day cupcake or Welsh cake. On World Book Day, pupils studied Welsh authors and pupils from the Reception class and Years 1 and 2 visited the library in town. On Friday the school had its second eisteddfod where every pupil participated. Some of the school governors judged com-petitions that included drawing daffodils and creating Welsh dragons on a computer. The judges awarded a number of certificates to the winners from each class. The pupils who were competing in the Urdd Eisteddfod had an opportunity to perform in front of the school.

Friends of Ysgol y Traeth

MOST of the pupils in the school had their faces painted on St David’s Day by the Friends. The Friends wish to thank everyone who supported the Easter Fair on Wednesday night; nearly £600 was raised. The school staff said they appreciate all the hard work that goes into raising these substantial funds. St John’s Church A GOOD Friday service titled An Hour at the Cross will be held between 2pm and 3pm, followed by a family event on Saturday between 2pm and 4pm. Meeting at 2pm at St David’s Church, the afternoon will include a sheep trail up to St John’s. On Easter Sunday, a family service will be held at 11,30am followed by an Easter egg hunt. There will also be an evening of sea-sonal music with Côr Meibion Ardudwy and Cana mi Gei at 7.30pm.
