Cycling scheme
A CYCLING safety scheme has landed in Bala and provided £200 for potentially life-saving equipment.
As part of a PACT initiative, a trust which was launched in 1998 to support community projects, North Wales Police have been working to improve the quality of life in all the communities of Dwyfor and Meirionnydd.
In keeping with the scheme, community police officer Lona Davenport has been creating awareness of bicycle safety amongst the community of Bala via the Bala Cycling Club, and has secured funds to purchase safety equipment for the club’s members, including bicycle lights and helmets.
Last Saturday afternoon at Gorwelion in Bala, community police officer Lona Davenport presented a cheque for £200 on behalf of (PACT) to Mark Allman on behalf of Bala Cycling Club. As days become shorter, and winter draws near, it is more important now than ever for cyclists to ensure their bike is in good working order, and to make sure they are visible on the roads at night.
North Wales Police have issued a leaflet which provides a checklist to ensure you and your bike are ‘safe and seen’ which includes a bike helmet, bright clothing, front and rear reflectors, front and rear lighting, wheel reflectors and pedal reflectors.
