Leaders of a primary school are meeting with police to discuss parents’ concerns about shamed former AM and MP Simon Thomas, a convicted paedophile who lives close to the school.
Thomas, who has been ordered to register as a sex offender while awaiting sentence for making over 600 indecent images and films of children, gave court officials his address as 22 Llwyn yr Eos, Penparcau, which is just yards from Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos.
Headteacher Brian Evans did not want to comment on the concerns of parents about the convicted paedophile living near the school.
But Penparcau county councillor Lloyd Edwards, who also sits on the governing body of Llwyn yr Eos school, said residents were bringing the matter up with him “every time they spoke”.
“I have spoken to the school and to police, and of course there are real concerns,” said Cllr Edwards. “It’s a very serious matter, and everybody is talking about it. If there’s somebody downloading and making films of children who lives next to the school then that has to be taken very seriously indeed.
“I have been told by the school and police that the situation is being monitored. We will know more once [Thomas] is sentenced.”
