A VERY successful charity darts tournament was recently held at the Ty Newydd Hotel in Aberdaron.
The tournament was held and played in memory of Robat Jones, or as most people knew him Robat Caerau, who used to play his darts at the Ty Newydd in a league team and sadly passed away from cancer.
The beautifully crafted winners slate shield and trophies were donated by local business man Meic Tanner of Pwllheli and a total of 46 individuals entered the competition which was held on the Saturday that the Wales rugby team played their last autumn series match against South Africa.
The competitors even stopped during the competition to watch the rugby.
Between the stop to watch the rugby and have something to eat the competition went on until 9.30pm.
The eventual winner was Alan Jones and in second place was Eurig Rowlands. The prize for the highest shot out with a score of 100 went to Evan Evans whilst Gwyn Tungston won the best leg with 16 darts.
At the end of the day a total of £707 was raised between the entry fees, donations and raffles and the organisers wish to thank everybody who helped to make the event such a great success.
The charity that will eventually be presented with the money has yet to be finalised, details to follow at a later date.
