SEVEN people in Aberystwyth and Cardigan have received year-long bans from the town’s pubs under a safety scheme, a council report outlines.
A report due to be put before Ceredigion Council’s Cabinet on Tuesday as the Cambrian News went to press that two customers in Aberystwyth and five in Cardigan had been banned from all pubs following a meeting of landlord and licensees for the local BOBB (Behave Or Be Banned) scheme earlier in the year.
The council report said that during the meetings “the behaviour of the customers was discussed and a decision was made to ban them all from premises subject to the scheme for 12 months.”
Ceredigion council licensing officers also attended the meetings to raise awareness of the issue of drink spiking after “a small number of cases” were reported in Ceredigion at the end of last year.
In October 2021, a national increase of reported drink spiking led to campaigners boycotting late-night entertainment premises.
During the meetings, officers provided advice on the subject of drink spiking, with information posters distributed to licensed premises throughout the county to help landlords “take measures to prevent incidents happening.”
