A brewery has had plans to turn a building into a guest house next door to its popular pub near Tresaith beach approved by planners – a scheme which will bring five jobs to the village.

S A Brains and Company Ltd hatched plans last year to build the guesthouse next to the Ship Inn on Pentraeth, Tresaith, a longstanding pub and restaurant which it owns.

The brewery has been given permission to transform Pentraeth House – which it bought from the previous owners last year – in a bid to provide “additional visitor accommodation for the Ship Inn, which is currently operating successfully as a public house and restaurant (with rooms) but is often at capacity.”

The plans will see the building kitted out with 10 ensuite bedrooms over three floors.

The company said: “The proposed change of use will contribute to the tourism industry by providing new, additional accommodation within the area and will ensure that the Ship Inn will be retained in profitable, commercial use thereby still making a valuable contribution to Tresaith’s and Ceredigion’s tourism industry.”

The two buildings will be linked by the ground floor as part of the plans.

In its application, the brewery said the expanded guest house would provide five more full time employees.
