PREMIER Inn will become the first national chain to open a premises on Aberystwyth’s seafront when it opens its hotel early in November.
The new hotel, which will be the first Premier Inn in the region, will create 26 jobs, and the official opening is on 5 November.
The opening of the £6m hotel, which has 64 rooms, has been welcomed by local councillor Mark Strong, who said he was pleased to see jobs created and a prime seafront building brought back into use after it was left empty when the former Bay Hotel closed in 2009.
Paul Brooks, the operations manager for Premier Inn Aberystwyth, said: “As part of our pre-opening activity, we’ve been raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity as well as helping out with a local garden restoration project.”
As well as the hotel, the development includes a bar and grill.
Cllr Strong said he was pleased to see the progress at the site. He said: “I am really happy that Premier Inn is creating these jobs in the centre of Aberystwyth.
“I am hopeful that Premier Inn might even consider creating further jobs than the immediate 26."
