CEREDIGION County Council wants to “rebrand” the county as the perfect place for businesses to move to in an effort to improve employment opportunities and boost wages.

The aim is part of the council’s draft corporate strategy along with targets to boost inward investment into the county.

The document sets out the council’s priorities and objectives from 2017 until 2022, with the authority identifying boosting the economy, providing training to help residents have better employment opportunities and increasing affordable housing to help people with accommodation.

One of the four key aims is ‘Investing in People’s Future’, with the council saying that more needs to be done to provide better paid employment and attract more businesses to the county to help reduce the number of younger people who leave Ceredigion to work elsewhere.

The strategy says: “Ceredigion will be rebranded and marketed as the location of choice to set up businesses in the future.

“The council will actively engage with large businesses linked to the agricultural and food industries as well as tourism to promote the unique ability of the local workforce to deliver outcomes and outputs to the highest standards.

“The council will look at creative ways to generate employment opportunities through partnerships with local businesses, communities and industry.

“We anticipate an increase in employment rates, inward investment and ultimately that Ceredigion, as a single entity, is the location of choice for education, employment and a prosperous and healthy lifestyle.”
