Plans are in the pipeline for a new venue in Llanilar if the long-time village pub, closed earlier this year, cannot secure a “viable future”.

The Falcon Inn closed early in 2019, after years of uncertainty which saw it close and reopen several times.

While talks are continuing over the Falcon’s future, plans have been hatched for a new venue on Castle Hill next door to Llanilar Football Club’s pitch.

The plans, which include seating and serving areas and a beer cellar, are in the early stages and have not yet been submitted as Patrick Loxdale, the landowner, waits to see what happens with the Falcon Inn.

He said the plans meant that no matter what happens, the village will have a pub.

“We desperately need a pub, a community hub, in the village,” Mr Loxdale told the Cambrian News. “It loses something without one.

“If the Falcon were to reopen with a viable, long-term future, and proper investment then these plans would remain on the back-burner.”
