A LLYN farming business has created two new jobs by turning back the clock and bringing back the traditional bottled milk.
Sion Jones and his wife Nia, from Madryn Isa in Boduan, believe that investing in the future of their family business is fundamentally important to ensure the long-term sustainability for their family’s future dairy farming business in north Wales.
Mr Jones said: “It is an exciting time for us; we’re making this key business decision now and have already received great support from customers wanting to buy local, fresh milk from their own locality here in Pen Llyn.
“The very first plastic bottled milk is coming off the conveyer belt at our processing unit in Pwllheli, and there is a great sense of satisfaction in seeing our own dairy herd’s milk in branded bottles.”
Twelve months have passed since the family, with the support from their children, Ela, 18, Tomos, 16, and Anna, 13 began the task of researching and seeking advice for processing their own milk.
With support from Cywain, a project spearheaded by Menter a Busnes, the family has received some sound advice and support to launch Llaethdy Llyn and develop the processing element of their new business venture in Pen Llyn.
