The former Coleg Harlech site has been put on the market once again for over £600,000.

In April the Cambrian News reported that local businessman Leslie Banks Irvine had bought Coleg Harlech, and its auditorium, but Mr Irvine has now decided to sell the site.

He did not want to speak to the Cambrian News but confirmed the sale, which has been listed with Beaumaris-based estate agent, Warriners.

Back in April, Mr Banks Irvine told the Cambrian News then that he was “still gathering his thoughts” on what the future holds for the site following completion of the purchase.

There are three main parts to the sale – Wern Fawr and the auditorium, the sports hall and the former amenity centre.

Planning permission has recently been granted for conversion of the former amenity centre into a budget hotel.

The listing on the estate agent’s website says it is “an excellent redevelopment opportunity – a substantial former college site located in a spectacular position taking in breathtaking coastal views across Royal St David’s Golf Course to Tremadog Bay and the Ll?n Peninsula - (development subject to planning)”.

The listing goes on to say: “The buildings and land form a large part of the former Coleg Harlech main campus and comprises: Wern Fawr, the auditorium (former 266-capacity Theatr Ardudwy), the sports hall and the former amenity centre (planning permission recently granted permitting conversion of the centre into a budget hotel).

“Please note, the former amenity centre and sports hall are accessed via the lower service road close to the golf course.

“Our client will consider selling these properties separately – Wern Fawr and auditorium £275,000, amenity centre £200,000 and the sports hall £140,000.”
