AFTER more than a decade, Lampeter Farmers’ Market is poised to come in from the cold.

On Friday it will return to its former home on High Street having spent 11 years ‘in exile’ on Market Street at the rear of Sainsburys supermarket.

Organisers and stallholders are hoping the market’s relaunch from its new base on Friday will mark an exciting new chapter for the enterprise.

“Some of our own customers suggested it was about time the market returned to Lampeter’s main street,” market manager Chris Thomas told the Cambrian News.

“The Chamber of Trade and Ceredigion County Council have also been very supportive and they too felt it was about time we went back to where we belong.

“The trouble with being in Market Street was that we were out of the way and a lot of people never knew we were there. The market was spiralling downwards.

“We have five stall-holders at present, expect to have up to eight now we’re back on High Street and, hopefully, in time will attract a few more.

“The main reason for the move is that we want to bring people into the town. Now we’re back in the public eye we should be able to do that.”
