AN entrepreneurial Criccieth student who has already established a successful company creating and selling unique individualised gifts, pitched against her fellow students to be selected to represent Bangor University in the next round of the UK Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards.
Elen Hughes is in her final year of a Welsh degree at Bangor University.
She joins other students selected to represent other categories in the UK Awards, which offer prizes of up to £15,000, mentoring and start-up support.
Elen is already trading with her personalised art-work, and hopes to start selling her gifts in local shops and increase the scale.
The former Ysgol Glan y Môr, Pwllheli and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor, Pwllheli student was shocked but very pleased to have won.
Elen said: “I think a competition like this provides a great opportunity and gives someone the momentum and inspiration to take their business seriously no matter how small and a great way to get feedback and see other people’s ideas.”
