AN AWARD-WINNING farm shop at Sarnau, which has drawn customers from both near and far over the past three decades, is closing its doors next month.
Llwynhelyg Farm Shop, set up by the husband and wife team of Teifi and Jenny Davies in 1983, has been described as “a food lover's paradise” due to the quality and diversity of its produce, most of which is sourced locally and around Wales.
But the shop will close on 21 October as Mr and Mrs Davies plan to focus their efforts on the nearby family farm, having failed to find a buyer for the business.
“We’re both the other side of 60 now and want to wind down a bit,” Mrs Davies told the Cambrian News.
“So many of our customers have become personal friends and we would like to say a big thank you to all of them – we will miss them.
“It has also been a privilege to deal with our suppliers – around 130 artisan producers who are all so proud of their produce and the Welshness of it.
“We are delighted to have played a part in promoting Welsh food tourism over the past 34 years.”
Mr Davies recalled how the shop opened after he was made redundant by a Newcastle Emlyn cheese factory.
