An Aberystwyth hotel that has been closed since March has a new owner.

The 17-bedroom Conrah Hotel – a prime wedding venue located in Chancery, four miles out of Aberystwyth – has been run by the husband-and-wife team of Geraint and Wendy Hughes since 2014.

The couple this week confirmed that the hotel has now been sold to a private buyer, but have not disclosed who that person is.

On the decision to sell the hotel, Geraint Hughes said: “Although we were not actually looking to sell the hotel, we were approached by a private buyer and wish the new owners well for the future.”

The hotel has been mothballed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic with all 28 members of staff losing their jobs.
