The Borth Branch of the Royal British Legion has commemorated the centenary of the organisation by laying a wreath.
The wreath, laid at the community hall in Borth yesterday. The hall is home to Borth’s war memorial, on which the names of the village’s wartime losses are listed.
Chairman, Cllr Ray Quant, president Mark Williams and standard bearer Yvette Ellis Clarke re-enacted the laying of the wreaths in Whitehall yesterday morning (15 May), marking the creation of the Royal British Legion 100 years ago.
Mark Williams said: “Our Borth branch is one of 2500 branches UK wide. This centenary is a chance to thank people for their support, but to critically remind people of just how important the Legion remains as a beacon for the Act of Remembrance; working with veterans and championing their cause. Local branches have a vital role in bringing that message to the wider community.
“Happy 100th Birthday Royal British Legion.”
