A GANLLWYD man will take on an epic feet of endurance to raise money for charity next month.
Phil Gladstone will walk to the summit of Mount Snowdon without shoes or socks to raise cash for the Fairbourne-based Meirionnydd Special Riding Group on Saturday, 30 July (weather permitting).
The 53-year-old will be joined by his colleague Jason, but Phil alone shall complete the trek without footwear — scaling the highest peak in Wales and the second tallest pinnacle in the UK.
His climb will commence from the Rhyd Ddu path, meaning a roundtrip of 8.5 miles and an ascent of nearly 3,000 feet.
The father-of-three will collect funds for the riding group that provides equestrian opportunities for adults and children with disabilities.
The charity hires horses from the Bwlchgwyn centre, where it is based, but the money Phil has raised will go towards the upkeep of the group’s beloved horse Sheri.
Phil, who is married to Kathryn, is a keen walker so he knew he would have to do something out of the ordinary if he was capture people’s imagination.
