A BANNED driver stupidly got behind the wheel to get himself to and from court.
A horrified magistrate realised that the man before him in court accused of driving whilst disqualified was the same person he had seen parking up his car in the court car park.
The magistrates were so incensed they adjourned the case for police to investigate and then jailed 33-year-old tree expert Jackson Beckett Logan when he came back before them.
But even after the case was adjourned so police could look into it, Tracey Willingham, prosecuting, said that Logan got back in his car and drove home.
Dolgellau court chairman Elfed ap Gomer told Logan, of Camfa’r Lleiniau, Gellilydan, that he showed callous disregard for the law and for the safety of other road users.
Logan was sentenced to four weeks’ imprisonment for the original driving while banned offence on 7 February; 10 weeks’ imprisonment for driving to the court while banned; and 12 weeks’ imprisonment for driving away from the court.
He will serve 13 weeks in jail.
