A FORMER children’s poet laureate for Wales who attended the Young Farmers’ Eisteddfod before she was even born is delighted to be a presenter at this year’s event.

There will be plenty of fun at Venue Cymru, Llandudno on Saturday, 18 November, as Snowdonia welcomes the 2017 Young Farmers’ Eisteddfod.

Llyn Peninsula presenter Anni Llyn, who will be joined by Meinir Howells, Ifan Jones Evans and Terwyn Davies, will bring all the excitement of the event to S4C viewers, from the competing to the excitement behind the scenes.

Anni is looking forward to experiencing the fun of the competition again this year.

“The Eisteddfod is a great opportunity for members – some who are farmers and others who aren’t – from all over Wales to come together to have fun and show Welsh rural culture at its best,” said the farmer’s daughter who is originally from Sarn Meyllteyrn but now lives in Cardiff.

“The range of competitions always offers a colourful feast of entertainment and the standard can be very high.”

Viewers can follow the event live on S4C at 5pm on Saturday, and again at 8.30pm until the very end of the event.

And Anni has more reason than usual to look forward to this year’s eisteddfod because she used to be a member of Eryri Young Farmers’ Club and her mother, Rhian Parry, is the honorary president of this year’s event.

She continued: “I used to compete with Clwb y Rhiw when I was younger and my mother actually competed at the Young Farmers’ Eisteddfod when she was pregnant with me!

“Of course, it’s great she is this year’s president and the people of Eryri are always welcoming.

“The fact the Eisteddfod is being held beyond the county’s boundaries, in Venue Cymru in order to fit everyone in, is a good thing and shows how popular it is.”

So does Anni have favourite competitions she’s looking forward to seeing during the evening?

“The light-hearted competitions are always fun,” said Anni.

“The sketches and comedy duet and things like that. I usually enjoy the performances but I’m also amazed at the originality of the productions – and I can’t wait to see which county will come out on top!”
