A local Assembly Member has praised a young fundraiser from Aberystwyth for standing up for children and families.

Joyce Watson, Mid and West Wales AM, met Theo Delahaye at a Senedd event on championing children’s rights in Wales.

This was organised by TGP Cymru (Tros Gynnal Plant), the Welsh children and family charity, which works with children, young people and their families across Wales.

Theo has arranged events in Aberystwyth to raise funds for TGP Cymru.

He is also a member of Ceredigion Junior Safeguarding Board, which meets monthly to advise the Senior Safeguarding Board and the Local Authorities Operations Board on what makes children feel safe in their communities.

Theo’s electro dance night at Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth raised £130, and he also worked with the TGP Young People’s Group on a fashion show which helped to promote recycling of clothes from local charity shops.

Ms Watson said: “Theo is a remarkable young man with a strong sense of social responsibility.

“Too many young people do not have their voices heard, particularly those most vulnerable.

“Theo and the TGP Young People’s Group have raised awareness of the charity’s important work, standing up for children and families and make a positive, lasting difference during challenging times in their lives.”

TGP Cymru services include independent and confidential support through advocacy, participation and family work.
