Madam,
About three months ago I was a patient in Bronglais Hospital with a fracture following a fall.
Now I know many of your readers often write letters offering thanks for their care and treatment. I can do no other. In particular, the food was excellent.
However, I would like to draw your readers’ attention to the care I received after discharge from the Enabling Service, which is offered by the county council.
I was assessed in hospital and a ‘care plan’ was organised. Carers came the day after discharge and for about six weeks they came every morning to provide personal care.
Just as the name says, they enabled me to live in my own home and not be an elderly bed-blocker.
Thanks are also due to the Red Cross, who provided a lovely lady to do a big weekly shop.
As I live alone these two services were invaluable.
Frequently our NHS and Ceredigion County Council, not to mention the voluntary sector, receive little reward or public appreciation. I would have taken weeks longer to recuperate were it not for all this help. Thank you all.
Yours etc,
Pamela Ellis, Crugyn Dimai,
Rhydyfelin, Aberystwyth.
