Aberaeron Swimming Pool will close in early January for renovations.
The town’s pool will close on 9 January 2023 for 6-8 weeks in order to carry out renovations, after Ceredigion County Council secured a Sport Wales Capital grant of £200,000 from the Welsh Government.
The Swimming Pool will be upgraded with Pool Plant Equipment and new lighting which will reduce energy costs and support its future sustainability.
John Gwynne-Hughes, Chairman of Aberaeron Swimming Pool Committee, said: “The swimming pool committee are delighted to announce that we have received a grant from Sports Wales to carry out much needed works to the pool to enable it to continue running. The committee would like to thank Ceredigion County Council for their assistance and support, the pool manager Martine and all the dedicated staff of the pool.
“Aberaeron swimming pool is run by the committee for the benefit of the community. It is an essential resource and this grant will secure our future. We will continue our fundraising activities to further improve the pool.”
Cllr Catrin M.S Davies, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Customer Services, said: “Our community operated leisure facilities play an important role in providing opportunities for our residents to be physically active. By working together, the Council and Aberaeron Swimming Pool have secured a significant investment that will enable the pool to continue to contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of the residents in the county.”
