POLICE had to deploy a stinger to end a 46-mile pursuit after a car failed to stop in Aberystwyth in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The chase came to an abrupt end outside the HSBC branch in Newtown after police officers used a stinger device to deflate three of the car’s tyres.
The chase began after a car failed to stop at a stop sign in Aberystwyth and only came to an end when the car was stopped between Broad Street and High Street in Newtown.
Two people were arrested following the incident.
Ceredigion Roads Policing on Twitter said: “Busy weekend, there have been over half a dozen drink driving incidents, including this one.
“Vehicle Recreational vehicle failed to stop Stop sign in Aberystwyth early hours. With the assistance of DPPNewtownRPU and TPAC tactics vehicle stopped with three stung tyres and two arrested.”
