A BLAZE at a mental health facility on the outskirts of Dolgellau has led to one arrest.

On Thursday night (13 October) emergency services rushed to Cerrig Camu, an assisted living development on Old Barmouth Road, after reports of a fire were received.

A spokesman from the Regard Group, which runs Cerrig Camu Residential Service, said: “A small fire occurred at one of our cottage units occupied by a resident with mental health needs last week.

“Nobody was injured in the blaze but damage was caused to the building. The fire brigade attended and police are investigating the cause of the fire. Cerrig Camu provides support for vulnerable adults. There is a main building and a number of cottages.”

A spokesperson North Wales Police confirmed the incident: “At 11.15pm on Thursday we received a call reporting a fire at the Cerrig Camu building.

“The fire was put out at the scene and nobody was hurt.

“An individual was arrested.”
