POLICE are linking a slew of break-ins at churches and community halls across north Ceredigion.
The latest incidents in Llandre and Penrhyncoch were both attempted break-ins with only minor damage sustained and nothing taken but, in the past few months, thieves have been successful in breaking in to other buildings, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage and stealing cash and items.
Sometime between Friday, 4 May and Sunday, 6 May, St Michael’s Church in Llandre and St John’s Church Hall in Penrhyncoch were both the subject of attempted break-ins.
At St John’s, two doors were kicked leading to the toilet and church hall.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson told the Cambrian News that “officers are dealing with these attempted break-ins together, along with some others which have occurred over the past few months".
Police did not say what other crimes are thought to be linked to the latest incidents, but in recent months church halls and community spaces have been broken into across north Ceredigion.
Anyone with information on the attempted burglaries at St Michael’s Church or St John’s Church Hall are asked to contact Aberystwyth police station on 101.
