DRIVING whilst disqualified charges against a Gellilydan man have been adjourned by Dolgellau magistrates, to allow police to investigate a further allegation from the day of the hearing.

Jackson Beckett Logan, 33, of 2 Camfa Lleiniau, Gellilydan, on Thursday pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified in Glynllifon Street, Blaenau Ffestiniog on 7 February, and guilty to careless driving and driving without insurance.

The court heard that Logan had driven his vehicle the wrong way down a one-way street and collided with an oncoming car at a bridge in Glynllifon Street.

At first the defendant, who had left the scene, told police that someone had stolen his car, but changed his plea after he was shown CCTV footage.

Tracey Willingham, prosecuting, said the defendant had been banned from driving by Conwy magistrates on an excess alcohol charge on 14 January.

It transpired that Logan had been in court again in the past two weeks at Llanelli for driving whilst disqualified and the ban had been extended to two years.

As the case was progressing, a further driving whilst disqualified allegation was made against Logan and the magistrates decided to adjourn the hearing for the police to continue their investigations.

The hearing was adjourned for a week.
