A CHALLENGING 100km bike ride will take place in Ffestiniog this weekend.

On Sunday, the fifth annual Ffestiniog 360 Challenge will be held in the town.

Over 400 riders, from all over the UK, will take on the 63-mile challenge.

The ride starts and finishes in Blaenau Ffestiniog and circumnavigates the Snowdon Range.

Len Smith, Ffestiniog 360 organiser, said that the event has become an “early summer favourite” with “lots of positive feedback”.

He added: “Each rider receives refreshments throughout the day, a slate plaque, a T-shirt and free entry into a mystery prize draw.

“We’re also holding the event the day before a Bank Holiday to give entrants, some of whom travel from afar, time to stay over and enjoy the area.

“As with last year, all proceeds raised by the event will go to Ty Gobaith.

“Thanks to the generosity of riders and sponsors last year’s challenge helped Ty Gobaith to the tune of over £8,000.”

This year’s main sponsor is Subway Eurospar, Blaenau Ffestiniog.
